ZipLocal Takes Vegas!

ZipLocal Takes Vegas!

The ZipLocal team headed down to Las Vegas this week for the annual Business Expo! The expo took place on Wednesday June 10. We debuted our new trade show booth and it was a hit! It definitely took some teamwork to figure out how to set up the new backdrop- luckily we work together effectively at ZipLocal! We spent the day networking with fellow Chamber members and showcasing our ZipUp and ZipSocial products to local business owners. Many expo attendees were interested in learning more about the values of social media and search engine optimization in business. The ZipLocal team shared valuable information and explained our wide range of business solutions. Part of what made our trade show booth so popular was the layout. We pushed the table all the way to the back, and our team members used the space to talk to attendees. This setup was so effective that there was even a short line to talk to ZipLocal team members! Our swag was pretty enticing too: we gave away screen cleaners, chap sticks, water bottles, luggage tags, candy and even portable phone chargers! After an awesome day at the expo, the team relaxed at the Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill. It was great to sit down with everyone, have a burger, and talk about the event. Everyone viewed it as a success overall and we’re excited to implement what we’ve learned at future trade shows! Do you represent your business at expos? What do you think of our new booth? What kind of swag do you give away? How do you engage new business contacts? Comment below with your...
Should you hire a social media manager?

Should you hire a social media manager?

You have started your own business. Congratulations! Now what? Traditional marketing? Social media? Both? It can be overwhelming when you don’t know where to start or don’t feel like you have the time. It may be time to hire a social media manager! They have the expertise, knowledge, consistency and the time you don’t have to manage your social media effectively. Here are some things to consider when deciding: Can You Maintain It? The only thing worse than having no social media presence is having an outdated social media presence. Dead accounts can look unprofessional and reflect badly on the company. You may have the best intentions when you create your social media accounts, but you’ll soon find that it’s easy to forget to update. Be honest with yourself and if you know you won’t maintain it long-term, a social media manager may be your best option. Can You Afford It? One of the biggest deciding factors will be cost. If you have a small business, it is likely there isn’t money set aside in the budget for salary and benefits for a full-time social media manager. Outsourcing to contractors or a social media firm is an option, but it’s important to make sure you understand the costs before you make that decision. Do You Know the Market? An expert in any field puts the time and effort into learning everything possible about that field. Talented social media managers spend hours watching the latest trends and employing the latest content strategies to make sure each post gets the best results possible. What works today may not work tomorrow and it’s...

Five simple Twitter best practices for marketing

Five simple Twitter best practices for marketing

284 million — that’s the number of active users on Twitter. If that number is mind boggling, consider that over 50 million tweets are sent PER DAY! Statistics show that of the users that Twitter has on its platform, almost half of them are using the app at least once a day, and almost one-third of them are checking Twitter multiple times a day. Without even running the numbers on that, it should be apparent how powerful this social platform can be. Statistics also indicate that almost half of all Twitter users that follow a brand on Twitter are more likely to visit that company’s website, and three-quarters of those users are more likely to purchase a product from that brand. Twitter allows consumers to feel more directly connected to a brand or organization when they engage with them on Twitter, which leads to more visibility and greater brand loyalty. Here are some simple best practices to wet or refreshen your Twitter whistle: 1. Keep it up: You may have gone through all the trouble to set up your account and establish your footprint in the Twittersphere, but it takes a bit more than that to maximize on the space. In order to maintain a ‘healthy’ Twitter profile, you must tweet regularly. Don’t work toward gaining followers and then allow them to forget about you by disappearing. 2. Optimize your Twitter bio: Your Twitter bio can be SEO optimized. Be sure that you clearly represent your brand and company, but do so in a way that utilizes keywords and a link to your brand’s website. 3. Engage with your...
