Today more than half of small businesses have a website, and that number continues to grow. As more and more companies enter the digital space how do you make sure your site stands out in the crowd? First and foremost, you want to make sure that your website is readily associated with your brand and showcases what’s great about your business. Here are a few tips to get you headed in the right direction.

Use Consistent Branding

Make sure that your company logo is front and center and that your website design utilizes colors, fonts, and imagery that are consistent with your brand and other advertising.

Include Company or Staff Bios

Tell the world who you are and what you stand for. Make sure to highlight what you think makes your business amazing! It doesn’t hurt to add some relatable details like your favorite hobbies or why you love what you do.

Use Your Photos

Professional stock photos can help give your website a polished and professional feel – but don’t underestimate the value of using your own.  Pictures of your business, staff, examples of your work or products go a long way towards making your website the best representation your business.  Your website images should always been clear and bright.  If you’re not confident in your photography skills a professional photographer is a great option. If you do take your own photos,  just remember to consider the background of your image, make sure the lighting is good, and don’t forget to make sure your lens is clean!

Add a Video

Let potential customers hear directly from you! Give a tour of your business, talk about your services, demonstrate a new product or answer some frequently asked questions! A video is a great way to deliver your message in an interactive and compelling way.

Once you develop a website that is unique to your business, don’t forget to keep it up to date. It’s essential to update hours, addresses, policies, promotions, etc. on your site if those things change. It’s also important to keep the site fresh with new pictures and updated content.
